This novel presents the perfect intersection of fiction and real-life. If you're Dominican-American and have yet to read this book by now...ponte las pilas for favor. Even if you're not Dominican I'm sure you'll find it entertaining and educational as it will give you a fairly decent understanding of what the transition is like for Dominican immigrants coming to this country and trying to adapt to American culture. Junot Diaz does a great job at making the main character Oscar encapsulate tough life lessons, personal growth, insecurity, and nerd culture.
