Why I Created Miami Girls Redefined
Miami Girls Redefined Campaign
My vision for the Miami Girls Redefined campaign came to mind as my final days in Miami quickly approached. My move to NYC was definitely happening, but I wanted to show the city that fostered my growth that I still had a deep love for it. For too long I moped around Miami wishing and hoping there would be somewhere I could fit in and I just couldn't find it. It wasn't until a month before my big move that I finally began meeting the female light makers I had so desperately been seeking and they changed my perspective on what I was leaving behind. For so long I fixated on the superficiality of this city and how I needed to get the hell out as soon as possible, but to my surprise, everything I was looking for was here all along.
Women are unapologetically coming together to redefine what it means to be a "Miami girl" and as a Miami girl herself, I couldn't be prouder.
Many Miami girls can attest to the fact that culturally there is a lot of work that needs to be done here, but for the first time ever I feel like the change is underway. I've lived here for most of my life and I can finally see the light at the end of the tunnel. Young people living here now have spaces where true connections and solid relationships can be fostered. A creative and collaborative dynamic in Miami's scene is brewing and it's absolutely beautiful. Women are unapologetically coming together to redefine what it means to be a "Miami girl" and as a Miami girl herself, I couldn't be prouder. Despite the narrow depictions Hollywood has put out of us we truly have so much to offer, and the world is finally getting to see it.
